GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sophomore Hannah Mattson and freshman Heidi Sarkkinen both went undefeated, but Averett University women's tennis fell to Guilford College 5-4 in a non-conference matchup Friday afternoon.

Mattson and Sarkkinen combined for an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Guilford, however, took the other two doubles matches.

Sarkkinen, Mattson and junior Angelica Orlikowski each won their singles matchups. Yet, it wasn't enough for the Cougars to steal the road win. Sarkkinen picked up a victory at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0. Mattson won at the No. 2 position 6-3, 6-2. Orlikowski also topped her opponent 8-4 at No. 6 singles.

Averett (2-4) returns to action on Sunday at Greensboro College.
