DEMOREST, Ga. — Averett University women's tennis dropped its USA South Conference match with Piedmont College as the Cougars lost 7-2 Sunday at the Burgen Tennis Courts.

Averett (2-7, 0-4 USA South) got both of its points from freshman Heidi Sarkkinen, the two-time USA South Conference Rookie of the Week who won her No. 1 singles match (6-2, 6-0) after teaming up with freshman Olivia Scott for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

The Cougars return to action Friday at home when they host Huntingdon College.
