Women's tennis blanks Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University women's tennis earned a 7-0 conference victory over Greensboro College on Friday, giving the Cougars their third win in four matches.

Averett (5-11, 3-8 USA South) won a pair of doubles matches against Greensboro as sophomore Hannah Mattson and freshman Heidi Sarkkinen notched an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores Jordyn Minton and Kaitlyn Meadows won No. 2 doubles by an 8-4 margin.

Sarkkinen, ranked 24th in the region, remained undefeated in singles play by beating Greensboro's Ashley Spivey in straight sets at the No. 1 position to improve her record to 15-0. Mattson, freshman Olivia Scott and Meadows also won in straight sets, with Minton winning by default.

Averett finishes its season on Saturday at William Peace University.
