CARY, N.C. — The Averett University women's soccer team snagged its second consecutive conference win with a 4-0 shutout over William Peace University on Sunday afternoon at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Averett (4-1, 2-0 USA South) hopped into the lead early with a goal from sophomore midfielder
Skye Gunn in the first half to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage at the break.

The Cougars' defense held off William Peace (1-5-1, 0-2 USA South) for the duration of the game and limited its shots to six. In the second half, Averett was much more aggressive with its attacks. In comparison to their seven shots in the first half, the Cougars took 17 shots in the second period, and three more shots found their way between the posts, including an additional goal for
