DANVILLE, Va. – Four N.C. Wesleyan College players scored in double-figures to help the Battling Bishops edge the Averett University women's basketball team 75-62 on Sunday afternoon to hand the Cougars their first conference loss.
Both teams were fairly the same on the offensive end, but it was N.C. Wesleyan's (7-8, 2-2 USA South) 64 rebounds compared to Averett's 41 that made the difference in the game. The Battling Bishops hauled in 29 offensive boards to put up 26 second chance points.

Samm Chandler paced Averett (10-5, 3-1 USA South) with 17 points to go with six rebounds. Junior guard
Frida Lundquist followed with nine points and senior center
Jonna Koski snagged nine rebounds.
Alexis Fitzgerald led N.C. Wesleyan with 17 points as Timyra Staton put up 15 points with Daijah Davis and KeChae Parker following with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Cougars will play the first of five consecutive road games on Tuesday, Jan. 17, when they travel to Staunton, Virginia, to face Mary Baldwin University at 7 p.m.
