STAUNTON, Va. — The Averett University volleyball team made quick work of conference foe Mary Baldwin University, taking down the Fighting Squirrels 3-0 on Wednesday night. Off to one of their best starts in program history, the Cougars remain undefeated in conference play and have won 14 in a row.

Averett (21-2, 10-0 USA South) won 25-10, 25-11 and 25-12.

The Cougars utilized all 19 players against Mary Baldwin (0-22, 0-8 USA South). Senior Hannah Shields and sophomore Brianna Williams each had five kills, while sophomore Madison Dadez, freshman Brooke Aaron and senior Jordan Minton each totaled four kills for the Averett offense, which hit. 250 as a team. Freshman Whitney Wood finished with a team-high nine digs, junior Emily Stanley had eight digs and senior Christiana Summa finished with seven digs.

Junior Keenan Marks totaled a team-best five aces will recording 12 assists. Wood added four service aces and freshman McKenzie Miller tallied 16 assists.

Averett returns to action on Thursday with a non-conference match at Roanoke College beginning at 7 p.m.
