DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's soccer team snagged a conference win with a 3-0 shutout over William Peace University on Saturday afternoon at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
 
Averett (3-6-2, 1-3 USA South) jumped into the lead early with a goal from senior midfielder 
Amanda Gustavsson at the 7:07 mark to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage in the first half.
 
The Cougars' defense was strong against William Peace (1-10, 0-5 USA South) for the duration of the game and held it to only eight shots. In the second half, Averett came out hot with a goal by freshman 
Emily Meador assisted by sophomore 
Kirsten Clancy in the 46th minute.
 
Junior forward 
Eimear Reddin captured her first goal of the season at the 90:00 mark on an assist from Gustavsson.
 
Averett will host Meredith College on Sunday at 4 p.m. in its Kick Cancer Game.
