Women's tennis drops fall non-conference match with Emory & Henry

Box Score

EMORY, Va. — Averett University women's tennis lost a non-conference match with Emory & Henry College 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Averett (1-1) picked up a win at No. 1 doubles when senior Hannah Mattson and junior Heidi Sarkkinen cruised past Emory & Henry's Tessa Johnstson and Bri Pierce 8-0. However, the Wasps took the other two doubles matches to go up 2-1 entering singles play.

Sarkkinen won her No. 1 singles match over Katie Meade, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Eleanor Crane also won at No. 3 singles, beating Kala Curtis 6-1, 6-2. Yet, it wasn't enough as Emory & Henry took the other four singles matches to seal the win.
