DANVILLE, Va. — Ferrum College got on the board 12 minutes into the game and never looked back, defeating the Averett women's soccer team 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Ferrum (6-5, 1-1 USA South) picked up a goal from Alex Mattson on an assist from Chloe Hudson to jump out in front 1-0 at the 11:00 mark. The Panthers scored their second goal at the 35th minute, Aina Tuck notched her first goal of the season on an assist from Jenna Janicki to make it 2-0 going into halftime.

Averett (2-5-2, 0-2 USA South) battled the whole game never letting up on defense, however, Ferrum scored its final goal at the 81st minute from Ysabella Bettilyon when she laced a shot in the top left corner to seal the win.

Despite the loss, junior goalkeeper
Bailee Brown had a solid performance with 11 saves on the afternoon. Brown made her 300th career save at the 52:49 mark in today's game.

The Cougars returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Fayetteville, N.C. to face Methodist University in USA South Conference play at 6 p.m.
