FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Averett University women's soccer team suffered a 6-0 conference loss Saturday evening to Methodist University.

Methodist (4-7, 3-1 USA South) scored its first goal nine minutes into the game when Capri Clark scored from the top of the box to put the Monarchs ahead 1-0 early. Methodist notched another goal in the 17th minute by Emily Borel to make the score 2-0. While Averett (2-6-2, 0-3-0 USA South) worked to hold off the Monarchs for the remainder of the half.

The Monarchs maintained control of the ball for the majority of the game scoring back-to-back goals in the 69th, 70th and 71st minute of the second half respectively to achieve the score of 5-0. Methodist scored its last goal at the 80:38 mark by Miranda Gay to give the Monarchs the win at 6-0.Â
