FERRUM, Va.—The Averett University women's tennis team claimed a 7-2 USA South Conference match against Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon.
 
Averett (5-5, 2-0 USA South) got off to an early start with two wins in doubles play. Sophomore Heidi Sarkkinen and junior Hannah Mattson won their match 8-1 at the No. 1 spot while junior Frida Lundquist and partner sophomore Miriam Lindberg came out on top with an 8-6 victory.
 
Later on, Sarkkinen, Mattson, Lindberg, and Lundquist also clinched their singles matches.
 
The Cougars will travel to William Peace University on March 28 for a 3 p.m. conference match in Raleigh, North Carolina.
