Box Score DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's soccer team used a pair of goals from seniors
Tobias Andreasson and
Kevin Watford to coast to a 5-0 victory over Berea College in USA South Conference action on Saturday afternoon on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Watford scored his first goal of the season within the first four minutes of this match when he received a pass from junior
Felix Squire to put the ball in front of the net giving Averett (2-2-1, 1-0 USA South) the lead early 1-0. Shortly after, Squire found Watford once again who was able to get the ball through the inside far post to provide the Cougars with a 2-0 run.
Andreasson notched his first goal on the year from a pass by senior
Mitchell Smith in the 17th minute to give the Cougars a three-goal cushion. He went on to record his second goal of the afternoon on a penalty kick at the 49:44 mark to seal the deal for the Cougars.
Junior
Ville Hautakangas also added a goal in the 22nd minute from a cross by junior
Huso Dukic that put the Cougars up 4-0 in the first half.
Berea (0-5-0, 0-2 USA South) got a concrete performance in the box from goalkeepers Nicholas Knoster and Noah DeHart who recorded eight saves collectively in the loss.
Averett returns to action Sunday against Maryville College at 4 p.m.
