St. MARY'S CITY, Md. — After fighting through two overtimes, the Averett University women's soccer team ended in a 0-0 draw with non-conference St. Mary's College on Sunday afternoon.
Defense was the story behind the game. St. Mary's (0-0-2) came out shooting from the start, being aggressive while getting off a total of 41 shots. Averett (1-0-1) got a stellar performance from junior goalkeeper
Bailee Brown, who tallied 17 of Averett's 20 saves.
As the Cougars held up on the defensive end, they were selective with its shots and took just eight.
Averett returns to action on Sept. 9 when it hosts Brevard College in a non-conference matchup at 2 p.m.
