MISENHEIMER, N.C. — The Averett University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Pfeiffer University on the road Wednesday evening in USA South action.
The Falcons struck for the opening goal of the contest 10 minutes into play when Haile Eve split between two defenders and fired a shot from 14-yards out to the far post.
Averett (2-9-1, 0-4-1 USAS) nearly tied the match eight minutes later when freshman
Johnny Kummander fired a shot on frame that was turned away by Pfeiffer's goalkeeper David Chavarria.
Pfeiffer (4-5, 1-4 USAS) would benefit from a second goal three minutes into the second half when Enrique Vargas played a ball from teammate Chris Brown into the back of the Cougars net to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Falcons added a third score in the 77th minute when Carlos Cuadros played a ball through traffic putting the ball in near post.
The Cougars broke into the scoring column in the 81st minute when Kummander struck for his first collegiate goal. Collecting a deflected cross from freshman

Austin Bramhall played all 90 minutes in net for the Cougars stopping three shots for game, while Kummander collected four shot attempts on the evening landing two on frame.
Averett will be back in action Saturday Oct. 6 as they host Brevard College on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
