DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis picked up an 8-1 non-conference win over Randolph College on Sunday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (1-1) notched wins in two of the three doubles matches, including an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles by sophomores
Henry Blanco and
Thomas Woodcock.
The Cougars took all six singles matches from Randolph (0-2) to seal the win. At the No. 1 spot, sophomore Simon Holmstrom edged Randolph's Alex Kulvivat 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. Sophomore
Alvaro Jimenez also picked up a win at No. 4 singles in a tough matchup. He beat Max Presley 7-5, 4-6, 10-1. Junior
Mathias Reusch and freshmen
Fabian Howding and
Alberto Compte each won in straight sets.
Averett hosts Division II Lees-McRae College on Oct. 13 in its final match of the fall season.
