The Averett University baseball team opens its home slate when the Cougars host non-conference foe Southern Virginia University for a noon doubleheader on Thursday at Owen-Fulton Field.

Averett (1-2) picked up a 6-5 road win over Guilford College on Wednesday. Southern Virginia (1-3) lost 4-2 at Washington and Lee University on Wednesday.

Thursday's doubleheader was originally scheduled for Saturday, but it was bumped up to Thursday to avoid inclement weather.
