SWEET BRIAR, Va. — The Averett University women's lacrosse sets new record for wins in a row with its fourth victory against non-conference Sweet Briar College 19-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Averett (5-4) would score first on a goal by senior Alexis Roccia within the first three minutes of the game. Soon after the Cougars would pick up its next goal from Roccia at the 24:09 mark with an assist from senior
Cassidy Feldt to give their team a 2-0 lead. Averett would continue to run the score up throughout the first half. Sweet Briar (0-4) scored its first goal at the 4:55 mark by Victoria Lawson giving the score of 11-1. The Cougars would score one more goal in the first half from Roccia.

 In the second half the Cougars would take advantage of the running clock, scoring two goals at 29:26 and 27:24 from freshmen
Gabbie Porter and
Elizabeth Peasley respectively. The Vixens would score two more goals to give them its total of three by Lawson. Sophomore
Abby Taylor scored the last goal of the game for the Cougars from an a assist by Porter. Â

 Roccia led the Cougars with five goals all of them being in the first half. Porter and  Peasley followed with four goals each. Freshman
Margaret Bautista and Taylor each added two goals to the Cougar total.

Averett will return home to face Methodist University in conference play on Saturday at 12 p.m. This will be the Team Molly Game to raise awareness a type of cancer called Ewing Sarcoma.
