ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The Averett University women's tennis team fell 8-1 at N.C. Wesleyan College on Sunday.
Junior Heidi Sarkkinen picked up the lone win for Averett (4-3, 1-2 USA South) at No. 1 singles. The Oulu, Finland, native collected a clean sweep victory, winning in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) over Florencia Sorrentino of N.C. Wesleyan (4-2, 3-0 USA South).
The Bishops won each doubles match for the 3-0 lead in the match before winning the remaining singles matches for the 8-1 victory.
The Cougars host Southern Virginia University on Tuesday in a non-conference tilt at 2:30 p.m.
