LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Averett University women's tennis team lost 7-2 in a non-conference matchup to Randolph College on Sunday afternoon.
Averett (4-5) started off on the right track picking up one point in doubles from the dynamic duo in junior Heidi Sarkinnen and senior Hannah Mattson. The pair defeated the Wildcats Keyu Jin and Aubrey Hawn 8-7 (2).
Sarkinnen also helped the Cougars out when she won at the No.1 spot, beating Jin 6-2, 6-3. However, Randolph (5-3) took the remaining five matches to cap the evening off.
Averett returns to the courts Monday at 4 p.m. when it travels to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to face Salem College conference matchup.
