BREVARD, N.C. — The Averett University men's lacrosse team dropped a road matchup to Brevard College on Saturday, 19-2.
Brevard (9-2) scored their second goal of the day to hold a 2-0 advantage on the scoreboard. Freshman

Keshawn Downing found the back of the net to cut the Averett (0-8) deficit to one.
At this point, the Tornados responded with four more goals in the first quarter and five in the second to take an 11-1 lead into halftime. Brevard carried this momentum into the second half as they tacked on six goals in the third and two in the fourth to own a commanding 19-1 lead with just under two minutes left in the match.
Downing tallied his second goal of the day and tenth of the season with 1:07 remaining in the game. Neither team scored in the last minute as Brevard won the match 19-2.

Jacob Shriver had 14 saves in net.
Averett hosts William Peace University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
