DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's tennis falls to non-conference Sweet Briar College 5-4 Saturday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (6-7) ahead after playing doubles 2-1 in the match. Junior Heidi Sarkkinen and senior Hannah Mattson won at No. 1 doubles 8-1 over Emily Wandling and AJ Lukanuski. Freshmen Eleanor Crane and Carolyne Dunn won at No.2 doubles 8-5.
Sarkinnen also was victorious at No. 1 singles, beating Wandling 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Crane edged Sweet Briar's Anna Colvin 6-4,6-0.
Averett will go on the road to Greensboro, Greensboro North Carolina to face Greensboro College in conference play on Monday at 11:30 a.m.
