BREVARD, N.C.
— The Averett University men's soccer team earned a draw against Brevard College on the road, 1-1, in USA South Conference action on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Averett (5-9-1, 3-6-1 USA South) struck first as sophomore
Erik Blick scored in the 56th minute off an assist from sophomore
Owen Story and freshman
Sebastian Widen. However, Brevard (4-5-3, 4-2-3 USA South) scored in the 75th minute to tie the game at 1-1, a score that held through the end of regulation to force overtime. The game ended in a draw following two scoreless overtime periods.
Blick's goal was his fifth of the season and third in as many games, while Story and Widen's assist was their first of the season. The Cougars had 11 shots on the day, with Blick, Story and sophomores
Ty Michelson,
Patrick Miller and
Johnny Kummander all recording two apiece.
The Cougars have a quick turnaround, returning to action on Sunday for a road game against Piedmont College at 1 p.m.
