DANVILLE, Va.
— The Averett University men's soccer team lost to Covenant College, 4-1, on Friday evening on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Covenant (9-1-1, 6-0 USA South) got on the board first with a header in the sixth minute. Averett (3-9, 1-6 USA South) tied it up at 1-1 shortly after as sophomore
Ty Michelson scored on a free kick in the 10th minute. However, the Scots regained the lead with another goal in the 27th minute. Covenant pulled away from there, scoring two second-half goals to seal the game.
Michelson's goal was his second of the season, with the other one also coming on a free kick. Sophomores
Johnny Kummander and
Baste Endresen each led the team with two shots on the day. In goal, junior
Colton Dutchess made 10 saves.
Averett returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 when it travels to William Peace University for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
