— The Averett University men's soccer team bounced back with its second conference win of the season in a 1-0 shutout victory on the road against William Peace University on Tuesday night.
Averett (4-9, 2-6 USA South) got on the board early as sophomore
Erik Blick headed in what ended up being the game-winning goal off an assist from
Bradley Bizzell in the ninth minute of the game. From there, the Cougars held off William Peace (6-3-2, 4-2-1 USA South) for their second conference victory of the season.
Blick's goal was his third of the year and second game-winner, while Bizzell notched his first collegiate assist. Meanwhile, sophomore
Ty Michelson led the team with two of its seven total shots. In goal, junior
Colton Dutchess made seven saves while collecting his third shutout of the season.
Averett returns to action when it hosts Methodist University on Saturday at 4 p.m. for Senior Day.
