ROANOKE, Va. — At the Southeast Regional Duals, the Averett University wrestling team beat Huntingdon College, 22-18, but fell to Millikin College, 39-9, on Saturday.

Dual 1

Averett (1-2) got out to a fast start over Huntingdon, as junior Sam Braswell won by decision, 10-7, at 125, sophomore Easton Halliday won by major decision, 10-2, at 133 and junior Brandon Woody won by pin at 141 to give the Cougars a commanding 13-0 lead early on. After that, sophomore Tony Blackman won by decision, 11-8, at 157 and freshman George Moseley won by pin at 184 to seal the win.

Dual 2

Against Millikin (5-0), who went 4-0 on the day and finished tied for ninth at the NCAA Championships last season, the Cougars jumped out to a 9-3 thanks to a win by injury default just over five minutes into the match from sophomore Joseph Jones at 133 and a 6-4 win by decision from Woody at 141. However, the Big Blue won all the matches after that to take the victory.

Averett has a quick turnaround as it heads to Ferrum College for the Star City Open, set to start at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
