ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Facing the No. 5 regionally ranked N.C. Wesleyan College for the second time in eight days, the No. 18 regionally ranked Averett University men's tennis team fell, 9-0, on the road on Wednesday.

Averett (7-5, 3-3 USA South) dropped its third straight in conference play as the Cougars hit the toughest portion of their schedule as they will see in the regular season, with N.C. Wesleyan (18-2, 9-0 USA South) is also ranked No. 24 in the nation. In doubles play, the team of junior Mathias Reusch and sophomore Simon Levinsson played in closest match in an 8-5 loss in the No. 3 slot, while freshman Patrick Shields put together the most competitive match in a 6-4, 6-1 loss in No. 3 singles.

Next, Averett faces Methodist University, who is currently second in the USA South East Division, at home on Saturday at 11 a.m.
