DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis team fell to N.C. Wesleyan College, 9-0, at the Averett Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

Eleanor Crane played the closest match for Averett (5-4, 1-1 USA South) in doubles play, falling 8-4 to the No. 1 team of N.C. Wesleyan (8-4, 3-0 USA South). No. 21 Sarkkinen dropped the first singles match in dual competition of her career in two hardly fought sets, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (6) to No. 41 Milena Amedieva of the Battling Bishops at No. 1 singles for the Cougars. Kristina Hedelt also played it close at No. 4 singles, falling 4-6, 2-6.
Averett looks to bounce back as it hits the road to take on USA South foe Salem College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
