FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Averett University men's tennis lost a USA South Conference matchup against fellow regionally ranked foe Methodist University, 8-1, on Tuesday evening.
Ranked No .15 in the region, Methodist (9-10, 4-1 USA South) opened with three doubles wins over Averett (7-4, 3-2 USA South), which is ranked No. 18 in the region.
Despite several close matches in doubles and singles, Averett's lone win came at No. 6 singles by sophomore
Simon Levinsson. After dropping the first set to E.J. Stolmeijer 6-4, Levinson took the next set 6-2 and then won the super tiebreaker 10-3.
Averett travels to N.C. Wesleyan College for another conference matchup on Thursday.
