— The Averett University women's tennis freshman duo of
Nakia-Lee Goodall Alejandra Garcia won the Flight 3 doubles draw on Friday night to open play at the Methodist University Fall Invitational.
Goodall and Garcia opened play with an 8-2 win over Methodist's Jessica Tucker and Catherine Smith. After winning their semifinal matchup 8-2 against Roanoke College's Janny Alvardo and Avery Jackson, Goodall and Garcia prevailed 8-6 in the championship against Division II University of Mount Olive's Rosario Bove Abigail Agra.

Fabienne Bachmann dropped their first match, 8-5, to Methodist's Abby Caddock and Sydni Lewis in Flight 1. However in consolation matches, they won 8-2 against Roanoke's Jessica Kennedy and Lucy Collins and 8-5 over Methodist's Jill Lawrence and Bri Rado. In Flight 2, sophomore

Louise Hovhammar also fell 8-4 in their opening match against Mount Olive's Deike Schipper and Ece Yuksel. The Cougars' tandem rebounded in consolation play, however, with an 8-2 win against Roanoke's Carolyn Kitsock and Margriet Bostoen, as well as a 8-4 victory over Methodist's Natalie Collins and Alex Pratt.
