MONTGOMERY, Ala.
— In its second USA South Conference road game in as many days, the Averett University men's soccer team lost to Huntingdon College, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
Averett (3-6, 1-3 USA South) actually got on the board first as sophomore
Owen Story scored on a penalty kick in the 12th minute, his third goal of the season. However, Huntingdon (3-4, 1-3 USA South) scored later in the first half to tie the game at 1-1 heading into halftime before adding two more goals in the second half to effectively put the game away.
The Cougars actually outshot the Hawks, 17-9, on the game, including six from sophomore
Johnny Kummander and three from sophomore
Ty Michelson, but things simply didn't go their way as they couldn't quite capitalize on those opportunities.
Averett returns to action on Sept. 28 when it's road slate continues with a matchup against Greensboro College for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
