WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Averett University women's basketball team made it four straight USA South Conference victories with a 77-42 win over Salem College on Saturday.
Averett (12-6, 6-3 USA South) trailed 2-0 following the opening tip, but quickly opened a 16-5 advantage following the opening quarter and cruised to a 38-20 lead at the break.
Salem (0-17, 0-10 USA South) dropped the third quarter 18-10 to the Cougars, allowing Averett to open up a 20-point advantage and coast to the 77-42 final.

Brooke Carthon and freshman
Courtney Scott lead all scorers with a game-high 15 points each, while Carthon pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Ravyn Johnson and sophomore
Genesis Weiters finished with 10 points apiece, with Johnson finished one rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
Wieters and Carthon each finished with three blocks apiece on the afternoon, while Scott dished out a game-high six assists.
Senior
Zenise Chambers finished with a season-high six points in the win, while also collecting two steals.
Averett will put its four-game winning streak to the test on Tuesday when it hosts Meredith College at 7:30 p.m. in USA South action.
