Averett at a Glance: Averett men's basketball is riding an 11-game winning streak entering Tuesday's Senior Night against Methodist University. Averett topped Covenant College 57-45 on the road Saturday to clinch the USA South Conference East Division regular season crown outright, as well as the right to host throughout the conference tournament.  Averett will honor its four seniors Ian Best, Vince Contreras, Moriba Diaby and Timothy Henry prior to the game. Averett's 11-game winning streak is its longest since the Cougars won a record 12 games in a row in 2008-09, which included three USA South Tournament victories and a win in the NCAA Tournament First Round. Averett's defense is among the best in the USA South. The Cougars are allowing only 66.1 points per game, which leads the league and ranks 36th nationally. Averett is holding opponents to a league-low 40.6 percent from the field.
Methodist at a Glance: Methodist is also hot having won its last four games following Saturday's contest 98-84 over Greensboro College. At 10-5 in conference play, Methodist is tied for William Peace University for second in the East Division standings with two games remaining.
