FERRUM, Va. — The Averett University men's lacrosse team lost to Ferrum College on the road, 16-2, on Wednesday night.

Ferrum (1-1) scored the only goal of the first quarter, but added five more in the second to take a 6-0 lead at halftime. After the Panthers scored the opening goal of the third quarter, Averett (0-2) got on the board as junior Rafael Walker scored an unassisted goal to cut the gap to 7-1. Ferrum then added seven unanswered before junior Nate Hann scored off an assist from sophomore Parker Corbett. The Panthers scored the final two goals of the game after that to conclude the game at 16-2.

Hann's goal gave him a team-high four on the season, while Walker and Corbett added their first goals and assists, respectively. Meanwhile, junior Jacob Shriver made 13 saves in goal and snatched a team-high seven ground balls, while Corbett added four ground balls.

Averett returns to action on Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. when it travels to Randolph College.
