The Series: The Cougars are 39-58 all-time against N.C. Wesleyan. Averett has won four in a row against the Bishops, including a sweep of the regular season series this season. Averett won 78-54 at N.C. Wesleyan on Nov. 26, and the Cougars won 86-77 at home on Feb. 4. Averett is 3-6 all-time against N.C. Wesleyan in conference tournament play, including an upset of the Battling Bishops last season in the quarterfinals.

Averett, the East Division champion and East No. 1 seed, topped Piedmont College 83-62 to end the regular season on Saturday. Averett's current 13-game winning streak set the program record, surpassing the old mark of 12 set by the 2008-09 team, which won its final eight regular season games, three USA South Tournament games and an NCAA Tournament First Round victory. Averett's defense is among the best in the USA South. The Cougars are allowing only 65.8 points per game, which leads the league and ranks 31st nationally. Averett is holding opponents to a league-low 40.5 percent from the field.
N.C. Wesleyan at a Glance: N.C. Wesleyan, the No. 4 seed in the East, enters the postseason on a two-game win streak following an 81-70 home win over Covenant College on Saturday. The Bishops boast two of the league's top scorers in reserve Damon McDowell (20.0 ppg) and starter A.J. Frye (17.5 ppg).
