  • Covenant at a Glance: The Scots rallied from a 16-point deficit with eight minutes left in regulation to force overtime before beating Maryville College 83-81 on a last-second 3-pointer to advance to the semifinals. Covenant won the West Division crown, but lost four of its last five regular season contests. The Scots feature two-time USA South Player of the Year Will Crumly, as well as Third Team selection Chris Barnette. The Scots like low-scoring contests. On defense, they allow just 69.3 points per game to opponents, ranking second in the conference. However, they also rank last among USA South offenses at 69.8 points a game.
  • Methodist at a Glance: The Monarchs pulled the lone "upset" of the USA South quarterfinals after beating East No. 2 seed William Peace University 90-83. However, the Monarchs are far from underdogs. Methodist's 16 overall wins is the second-most by any USA South team this season. The Monarchs have won six of their last seven games, only losing at Averett the last week of the regular season. Dante Burden, who is averaging 18.1 points per game, was selected to the USA South All-Conference First Team.

  • Averett at a Glance: Averett men's basketball is riding a program-record 14-game winning streak following Tuesday's 75-65 quarterfinals win over N.C. Wesleyan College. Averett, the East Division champion and East No. 1 seed, has one of the top defenses in the USA South. Guided by USA South Coach of the Year David Doino, the Cougars are allowing only 65.7 points per game, which leads the league and ranks 32nd nationally. Averett is holding opponents to a league-low 40.4 percent from the field. The Cougars feature a balanced attack led by USA South First Team selection Isaiah Jones and Third Team selection Timothy Henry, as well Montre' Cash, who also averages double-digit scoring.
  • Huntingdon at a Glance: The Hawks pulled away late to beat Piedmont College 87-72 in the quarterfinals. Huntingdon is the only team in the USA South that beat both Division winners Averett and Covenant this season, but the Hawks also slipped up against some of the teams in the bottom of the league standings. Led by former Averett assistant David Gurganus, the Hawks upended Averett 93-92 on a late 3-pointer in December before the Cougars began their current hot streak. Huntingdon is led by USA South Second Team selection Damien Madison.
