LYNCHBURG, Va. — Averett women's tennis blanked non-conference foe Randolph College 9-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Averett (2-0) got an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles from the tandem of junior
Eleanor Crane and freshman
Fabienne Bachmann. Sophomore
Inka Zeilstra and junior
Louise Hovhammar also won 8-6 at No. 2, while freshman
Nakia-Lee Goodall and
Alejandra Garcia won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
The Cougars also took all six singles matches, including two in three sets. Goodall clinched the win for Averett by winning her No. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-0. Hovhammar came back to beat Ashley Schmitz 0-6, 6-3, 10-5, in her No. 2 singles match. Zeilstra also won a tight one, beating Sarah Mueller 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, at No. 4 singles. Bachman also won 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1 singles against Randolph (1-3).
Averett takes on the University of Lynchburg at home on Friday.
