WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — Averett University women's soccer stormed past Salem College 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field.
Averett (4-3-1, 2-1-0 USA South) saw freshman
Celia de Diego give the Cougars a early 1-0 advantage off an assist from sophomore
Clarice Peters. This keeps the streak of de Diego scoring in every game alive.
Sophomore
Maiju Hyvarinen gave Averett a 2-0 advantage in the 29th minute scoring off a penalty kick for her second game on the year. It was not long into the second half before the Cougars were able to extend that led as sophomore
Quntasia Miller earned her first goal on the year putting Averett up 3-0 in the 50th minute.
Salem
(5-7-0, 1-2-0 USA South) saw its only goal come in the 81st minute off a penalty kick.
Averett is back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Greensboro College.
