GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Averett University wrestling team dominated the Randy Tuggle Pride Duals on Saturday outscoring their four opponents 209-4 in varsity duals going 4-0 while the B Team also put up a perfect 4-0 mark.
 
Averett (5-2) set a program record with a 59-0 win over Patrick Henry Community College to begin the day while the B Team downed Patrick Henry later in the day 58-0 both breaking the record for most points scored in a dual. 
 
The Cougars continued their dominance with a 45-0 win over Huntingdon College in their second dual of the day before beating division II Bluefield State College 59-0 to tie the program record set against Patrick Henry for the largest dual score win. 
 
Arguably Averett's most impressive performance of the day came in the form of a 46-4 win over Greensboro College paced by three straight pins by junior George Moseley, sophomore Zion Carpenter and junior Billy Baldwin.
 
Senior Sam Braswell finished 4-0 on the afternoon to increase his perfect record to 15-0 on the season.  While junior Trent Ragland increased his win total to 13-1 and senior Joseph Jones put his national ranking to the test with three wins. 
 
The Cougars also picked up a 25-16 win over Huntingdon in B Team competition led by freshman Daniel Parkulo's 12-2 major decision win to get the dual started and capped off by freshman Will Longhurst's first period pin to seal the victory. 
 
With their two victories over Bluefield State the Cougars have now won six straight over DII opponents dating back to a perfect 4-0 mark last season. 
 
The Cougars are back in action on Dec. 3 when they travel to York, Pennsylvania for the New Standard Invitational beginning at 3:15 p.m.
