DANVILLE, Va. — Three Cougars scored in double figures but it wasn't enough as Averett University men's basketball lost to Guilford College 74-61 in non-conference action Tuesday night in the Grant Center.
Averett (0-4) fell behind 25-5 with 10:48 left in the first half before mounting a huge rally to pull within 28-23 on senior

Raja Milton, getting the Cougars within five points with 3:52 left in the half. Guilford (2-2) extended its lead back to 33-25 at halftime.
The Cougars made several comeback attempts in the second half but couldn't overcome the first-half deficit.
Rowell matched his career-high with 17 points in his first career start. Junior
Corey Baldwin added 16 points and three assists, with sophomore
Jordan Lewis chipping in 13 points. Milton finished with eight points and team-highs of five assists and three steals.
Guilford was led by Liam Ward's double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds as the Quakers shot 50.9 percent from the floor and won the battle on the glass 34-25.
Averett returns to action at home on Sunday against Shenandoah University.
