DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University wrestling team posted a 4-1 record as the host of the Cougar Duals on Sunday afternoon inside the Grant Center with its only loss of the day coming to Division II Glenville State College. 
 
Averett (13-3) started the day with a 56-0 win over Emory & Henry not dropping a single match. 
 
The Cougars continued their dominance with a 31-12 win over Division II Limestone University in their second dual of the day before shutting out Montreat College 38-0. The matchup with Limestone proved to be the second closest match for the Cougars having to come back to win after trailing 12-4.
 
Averett's only loss on the day came from Division II Glenville State College 27-25 in heartbreaking fashion. The Cougars were clinging to a tight advantage before dropping close matches at the 141 and 149 pound weight classes. The Cougars bounced back quickly with a commanding 42-3 victory over Greensboro College. 
 
The Cougars are back in action on New Years Day when they travel to Lexington, Virginia, for the Jim Crytzer Invitational beginning at 9 a.m.
