ASHLAND, Va. — The Averett University men's basketball schedule in Randolph-Macon College's Fink's Jewelers Coaches Tournament has been changed this week after two teams withdrew from the event.
Originally a four-team tournament over two days, the event is now a three-team tournament over three days. Averett will now play Gettysburg College on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. and No. 2 Randolph-Macon on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. Host Randolph-Macon will play Gettysburg on Dec. 29.
The tournament originally featured Averett, Randolph-Macon, Rosemont College and The College of New Jersey. On Dec. 22, it was announced that Gettysburg was replacing Rosemont, which pulled out of the tournament because of a "concerns over the recent rapid spread of COVID." Earlier this week TCNJ also decided to withdraw.
Prior to the changes, Averett and TCNJ were scheduled to play on Dec. 29, with the winner facing the winner of the Randolph-Macon/Rosemont game while the remaining two teams faced off in a consolation game.
