DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-4 decision to Ferrum College on Sunday in non-conference action.
 
Averett (2-2) took a 1-0 advantage following nearly 10 minutes of scoreless action on Sunday when junior 
Adriana Perez tallied her seventh goal of the season. 
 
Ferrum (5-0) evened the matchup 1-1 just over a minute later with its first score and gained the lead 2-1 with 18:41 remaining in the first half. 
 
Senior 
Abby Taylor notched her first goal on the season 30 seconds later to tie the game at 2-2 off an assist by junior 
Hannah Mae Ayers. 
 
However, the Panthers closed out the half on a 4-0 scoring run to take a 6-2 edge into halftime. 
 
Senior 
Elizabeth Peasley pulled the Cougars back within 6-3 with her 29th goal of the season, but Ferrum answered to increase its advantage back to 7-3. 
 
Peasley cut the deficit back to 7-4 with just over nine minutes remaining with her 30th score on the year, but the Panthers rattled off three goals over the final nine minutes to hang on for a 10-4 win. 
 
Perez finished with a game-high seven ground balls for the Cougars, while senior 
Haley Boardway finished with six scoops and junior 
Courtney DeLone accounted for three. 
 
Peasley collected a team-high four draw controls and Boardway finished with a team-high four caused turnovers. 
 
Averett returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Southern Virginia University at 4:30 p.m. on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
