NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Averett University men's tennis team suffered a 8-1 loss at Christopher Newport University Saturday afternoon at the James T. & Sarah C. Eyre Courts.
Averett (2-2) saw senior
Stan Martherus earn the only point of the day for the Cougars in No. 3 singles. Martherus dropped the first set 0-6 but bounced back winning 7-5 forcing the super tie breaker where he won 10-7. Freshman
Lasse Bonn was the only other Cougar to force a super tie breaker for Averett at No. 4 singles.
Christopher Newport (2-1) took all three doubles matches as well.
The Cougars look to bounce back against Shaw University tomorrow at 1 p.m.
