STAUNTON, Va. — The Averett University men's tennis program cruised past Mary Baldwin University 9-0 Monday afternoon at Mary Baldwin's Tennis Courts earning another conference win.
Averett (5-2, 2-0 USA South) saw three freshman earn wins in dominate fashion. Mary Baldwin (0-7, 0-3 USA South) gave the Cougars wins by default at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles.
At No. 1 singles, freshman
Maksim Sukhomlinov won along with freshman
Aleki Gomez at No. 2 singles. Freshman
Philipp Bohnenkamp earned his No. 3 singles victory in straight sets along with his fellow freshman
The Cougars were able to sweep Mary Baldwin in doubles action to begin the day. The freshman duo of Gomez and Sukhomlinov earned a 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, Averett won by default.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan University Thursday at 3 p.m.
