BUENA VISTA, Va. — Averett University volleyball had its five-match win streak halted with a 3-0 non-conference road loss to Southern Virginia University on Thursday evening. The Knights won 25-11, 25-18 and 25-14.
Averett (7-3), missing several starters, fell behind early in each of the three sets against Southern Virginia (5-1). Despite late runs in the final two frames, the Cougars couldn't overcome the deficits in time.

Zamyiah Mangum had five kills to lead Averett's attach. Senior

Erin Gray had a team-best 10 digs.
Averett returns to action on Saturday with a big conference matchup at home against William Peace University.
