DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's lacrosse team lost to Meredith College 20-5 on Saturday in USA South Conference play. 
 
Meredith (8-1, 5-0 USA South) opened Saturday's matchup on a 7-0 scoring run before senior 
Elizabeth Peasley broke the run with her first of three goals on the afternoon. 
 
The Avenging Angels rolled off another long scoring run, 6-0 following Peasley's score to open up a 13-1 advantage. 
 
Junior 
Hannah Mae Ayers added a goal off senior 
Gabbie Porter's assist with 3:34 remaining in the first half to close the deficit to 13-2, however Meredith tallied two goals prior to the half to take a 15-2 lead into the break. 
 
Averett (5-5, 3-2 USA South) limited the Avenging Angels to just five second half goals on Saturday, scoring three of their own as Peasley found the back of the net twice for the hat trick and later assistant on Ayers second goal on the day. 
 
Junior 
Adriana Perez finished with four draw controls and caused three turnovers for Averett, while freshman 
Kaylee Joblon scooped up seven ground balls.
 
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they travel to Rocky Mount, North Carolina for the regular-season finale against N.C. Wesleyan College at 2 p.m.
