MISENHEIMER, N.C. — The Averett University women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over Pfeiffer University at the Knapp Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

Pfeiffer (2-3, 1-1 USA South) essentially started the match leading 2-0 as the Cougars fell by default in No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

Averett (7-4, 3-2 USA South) earned two points in doubles action as the senior duo of Louise Hovhammar and Eleanor Crane earned an 8-4 victory. At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of freshman Paula Ryhsen and sophomore Alejandra Garcia rolled to an 8-0 win.

In singles play, the Cougars earned victories in each match except No. 1 singles where Hovhammar fell 6-1, 1-6, and 6-4. Crane, Ryhsen, Garcia, and sophomore Nakia-Lee Goodall all earned wins in straight sets at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, respectively.

Averett returns to action Thursday, at 3 p.m. when they host Sweet Briar College.
