DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's lacrosse program dropped a home conference match 16-6 against William Peace University on Wednesday afternoon on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Averett (4-7, 0-6 USA South) got out shot by the Pacers 43-20 but had 10 more saves as a team as senior goal keeper Jacob Shriver earned 16 saves and added six ground balls.
William Peace (4-8, 2-4) won 12 more face offs then Averett and jumped out to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Averett only faced a 6-3 deficit headed into the locker room for halftime before being outscored 5-1 in the third period.
Freshman
Liam Taylor scored two goals while junior
Parker Corbett also added a goal for the Cougars. Seniors
Nate Hann and
Rafael Walker also added an assist each. Averett was led by freshman
Connor Taff who tallied three goals.
The Cougars are back in action at Greensboro College, April 19th, at 3 p.m.
