RALEIGH, N.C. — The Averett University men's tennis program rolled past William Peace University with an 8-1 win Saturday afternoon at the Lions Park Tennis Center.
At No. 2 singles, freshman
Josh Bottrell won 6-1, 6-2. In No. 3 and No. 4 singles, freshman
Joeri van Bladeren and freshman
Aleki Gomez earned a victories winning 6-0, 6-0. Freshman
Philipp Bohnenkamp won No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-3, for the Cougars while
Evgeniy Bogdasaryan earned a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 6 singles.
William Peace (1-4, 1-2 USA South) earned their only point at No. 1 singles.
Averett (8-5, 4-1 USA South) swept William Peace in doubles action to begin the day. Senior
Stan Martherus and freshman
Rufus Nurminen won their No. 1 doubles match 8-2. At No. 2 doubles, the freshman duo of
Lasse Bonn and Bohnenkamp earned a 8-0 victory while Gomez and Bladeren wrapped up the sweep at No. 3 doubles winning 8-1.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to Chowan University, Sunday, at 1:30 p.m.
