BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis program fell short 5-4 against Southern Virginia University on Monday afternoon at the SVU Tennis Complex.
Averett (8-5) saw wins from freshman
Paula Ryhsen in her No. 3 singles matchup 6-3, 6-3. While senior
Louise Hovhammar earned a win at No. 1 singles 6-1, 7-5.
Southern Virginia (4-5) picked up wins by default at No. 3 doubles to start the day as well as No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
In doubles action, the Cougars earned two points from the senior duo of
Eleanor Crane and Hovhammar in No. 1 doubles action while sophomore
Alejandra Garcia and Ryhsen also won 8-2 for the Cougars.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to Roanoke College, Tuesday, at 3 p.m.
